Red Wines

Mustang Sally is a soft spicy Shiraz with earthy fruit characters. The palate shows light berry flavors with sweet soft tannins and a gentle finish. Not designed to put in the cellar, but to drink now on any occasion and especially with no nonsense chop and Sausage barbeque.

Black Sheep is an unusual blend of varieties to produce an easy drinking wine of medium structure with a medley of fruit characters. The Shiraz gives ripe blackberry and raspberry flavors, the Malbec contributes strength and cherry characters, and the Merlot with its violet silkiness is used to soften the wine. The 2004 vintage was blended using 42% Shiraz, 38% Malbec and 20% Merlot, but these percentages may vary from year to year depending on the individual strength of grape flavor each vintage. Lightly aged for 8 months in seasoned American oak, the Black Sheep is bottled to be enjoyed now or cellared 2-3 years.

All three grape varietals were hand-picked from 40+ year old vines on the Lambert Estate Vineyard. The lightly scented characters of the Grenache grape when blended with the fruity Shiraz and the soft, plummy Mouvedre, create a medium bodied wine with a medley of flavours, aged in oak for 6 months.

Tempranillo is a popular Spanish grape variety selected by us with the belief that it is well suited to our Barossa Valley climate.  Aged in French Oak Hogsheads for 15 months the wine is characteristic of light cherry, plum and strawberry, medium bodied with low acid and tannin finish.  Compliments a range of appetizers and tapas.

Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon has been Lindsay Stanley’s pride for decades, and this wine shows his vast experience and love for the variety. This was the first red wine made by Lindsay Stanley under his own label in 1991. This wine certainly set the precedent by winning the Cuno Pacific Trophy at the Barossa Valley Wine Show and to date has still a long way to go in the bottle. Beautifully structured and elegant, rather than overpowering, the 2005 Barossa Thoroughbred Cabernet Sauvignon has blackcurrant and plum characters, fine tannins and a soft finish. The wine drinks extremely well now, but will reward patience if cellared over several years .

Cabernet Sauvignon from the Long Gully Vineyard region in the Barossa is low yielding with intense fruit flavours.  Aged in fine grained American Oak Hogshead for 18 months, this wine is firm and elegant with a rich finish.  Best allowed to breathe after opening.

The Family Tree Shiraz is produced by selecting fruit from a single vineyard at optimum ripeness. Matured in new American oak for 15 months then bottled and allowed to rest. Rich in fruit with velvety tannins and a lingering soft finish. Best allowed to breathe after opening.
